I am currently the Lead Front End Engineer at Threadless.
I focus on user experience through page optimization, code structure, and modular development. In addition to leading the front end team I'm also a product owner where I help to build the platform that supports one of the most vibrant digital artist communities.
I'm passionate about responsive web design, performance optimization, user experience, analytics and data driven design methodologies.
I came to digital design by way of ceramics, paper making, and print making [mono-type and letter].
Working through art school critiques, and long lessons on typography (while actually setting type!) have helped instill in me a strong drive to bring that sense of craftsmanship to my digital work. Finding time to build with your hands, get inky and make a mess of things is a much needed part of my week.
My wife and I are in the process of rebuilding our studio practice at our home in the community of the future, Bridgeport.
I grew up on and helped plant one of the first certified organic farms in Iowa and have a strong connection to where our food comes from, how it's raised, and am at one of my happiest cooking for people.
I grill year round, make my own amari, am carving out space in the basement for a curing chamber, and can break down a chicken in minutes.
I also make a mean negroni.
